Description
NEFF N90 80cm Induction Hob with Integrated Ventilation System
An N 90 induction hob with a full downdraft extraction system built into its centre, clearing steam at the pan while the TwistPad dial runs four Flex zones.
The V68AUX4C0 combines two appliances in one 80cm surface: a four-zone Flex Induction hob and a high-performance downdraft extractor that draws steam and cooking smells down at pan level, before they reach your eyeline. For open-plan rooms and island installations where a chimney hood would dominate, it keeps the view, and the air, clear.
The extraction is properly engineered rather than token. A low-noise BLDC blower moves up to 500 cubic metres of air per hour in normal ducted operation, rising to 622 on boost, and the Automatic Air Sensor adjusts the rate continuously to match what is happening in the pans. Stainless steel grease filters capture 94 per cent of grease and go straight in the dishwasher.
Ideal For
With extraction built into the hob itself, an island installation needs no overhead canopy, keeping sight lines open across the room; wall and island configurations are both supported.
The Automatic Air Sensor adjusts extraction continuously and a delayed shut-off clears residual smells after cooking, so the sofa side of the room stays fresh.
The system runs ducted or recirculating, with the slider and Clean Air Plus odour filter for unducted recirculation included in the box and duct kits available.
Key Features
Ducted performance reaches 500 m³/h at the top normal setting and 622 m³/h on boost, with 17 fan stages plus two intensive settings.
Sensor and cooktop data drive fully automatic fan adjustment, with three sensitivity modes spanning low-noise, balanced and performance-oriented behaviour.
Four zones pair into two 40cm flexible areas that detect cookware of any shape, size or position automatically as you set pans down.
The removable magnetic dial controls zones and functions with a precise twist, and lifts off the glass for cleaning or child safety.
Twelve-layer stainless steel grease filters capture 94 per cent of grease, remove with one hand and clean in the dishwasher along with the collector unit.
A 200ml collector plus a 700ml safety reservoir and watertight motor handle boil-overs, with a drainage system for anything beyond.
Extraction that starts where steam does
Conventional hoods wait for steam to rise a metre before catching it; a downdraft pulls it sideways into a vent between the zones while it is still at pan level. The V68AUX4C0's blower is built for the job, with pressure-resistant BLDC technology that sustains performance even through duct runs up to eight metres with three bends. Noise stays civilised: normal ducted settings span 42 to 69 dB, with the acoustically optimised interior keeping the frequencies pleasant rather than piercing. Automatic switch-on when a zone lights, and a delayed shut-off afterwards, mean you rarely think about it at all.
Spills are part of the plan
The obvious worry with a vent in the middle of a hob is the boil-over, and NEFF has engineered for it in layers. The upper collector holds 200ml of everyday spills and condensate; beyond that, a drainage system routes liquid to a 700ml safety collector that detaches from below, giving 900ml of total capture around a watertight motor. Everything the liquid touches, from the twelve-layer stainless grease filters to the collector unit with its floating glass ceramic handle, removes with one hand and is fully dishwasher-safe.
One appliance, two jobs, four zones
As a hob, the V68AUX4C0 is pure N 90: four zones of 20 to 23cm, each delivering 2.2kW with a 3.7kW boost, arranged as two 40cm Flex zones that detect cookware automatically. The TwistPad magnetic dial handles zones and fan alike, the Extended Frying Sensor holds frying temperature automatically, and Home Connect adds remote monitoring and updates. Installation is more involved than a standard hob: the unit is 22.3cm deep below the worktop, needs free access from below with removable drawers, and suits a 60cm base cabinet with a 75cm cutout. Recirculating setups need a 400cm² return-flow aperture in the plinth; the ventilation function carries a class B energy rating with class A fluid dynamic efficiency.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | NEFF Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Open-plan kitchen air | Downdraft extraction at 500 m³/h | Steam and smells are captured at pan level before they drift across the living space. |
| Island installations | Integrated ventilation system | No overhead canopy is needed, so the island keeps clear sight lines in wall or island layouts. |
| Hands-off operation | Automatic Air Sensor | The fan switches on with the zones and adjusts itself continuously, with three sensitivity modes. |
| Boil-over anxiety | 900ml capture system | Layered collectors and a watertight motor absorb spills, and every part is dishwasher-safe. |
| Odd-shaped cookware | 2 Flex Induction zones | Pans of any shape sit anywhere in the 40cm areas and are detected automatically. |
| Evening quiet | 42 dB minimum setting | Low normal settings run at 42 dB with acoustically tuned frequencies for background-level extraction. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- Hob and downdraft extractor combined in one 80cm appliance
- Up to 622 m³/h boost extraction when ducted
- Automatic Air Sensor with three sensitivity modes
- 94 per cent grease filtration, fully dishwasher-safe parts
- 900ml layered spill capture with watertight motor
- Removable magnetic TwistPad dial, included in the box
- Ducted or recirculating installation, recirculation kit included
Considerations
- Recirculation odour filters last around 360 cooking hours and are non-regenerative, so they are a recurring replacement cost.
- Installation is substantial: the unit extends 22.3cm below the worktop, needs free access from below with removable drawers, and recirculating setups need a plinth aperture.
- Four cooking zones rather than the five found on conventional 80cm hobs, as the central strip houses the extraction intake.
