An 80cm five-zone Bosch induction hob with a 40cm FlexInduction area and a 24cm centre zone, built for households that cook several things at once.
The Series 6 PXV831HC1E is an extra-wide induction hob: 80cm of black ceramic glass, five cooking zones and a 75cm niche. It is aimed at kitchens where four pans on the go is normal rather than exceptional, and where an island or a long run leaves room for a hob that does not crowd the worktop.
The right-hand pair of zones works as one 40cm FlexInduction area, joining or separating automatically to match the cookware placed on it, while a dedicated 24cm centre zone handles a wok or a stockpot on its own. Seventeen power levels apply to every zone, and PowerBoost lifts output to 3.7kW on the three largest.
Ideal For
Five zones mean a sauce, a stock, two vegetables and a pan of protein can all run at once without shuffling. The 80cm surface gives each pan room rather than stacking them shoulder to shoulder.

Why five zones changes the routine

The PXV831HC1E gives each of those its own zone, with diameters from 145mm up to 240mm so the small pans are not marooned on a big ring. Because the surface is 80cm wide there is also physical space between handles, which is the part specifications rarely mention.
The flexible right-hand zone
The two right-hand zones are 200/210mm and rated 2.2kW each, boosting to 3.7kW, and together they form a 40cm FlexInduction area. The hob decides for itself whether they should behave as one zone or two, reading the shape and size of the cookware you put down. Slide a pan from one to the other and the automatic setting transfer carries the power level with it. QuickStart goes a step further, selecting whichever zone already has a pan on it when you switch on.
Installation, load and safety
The appliance measures 5.1 by 80.2 by 52.2cm and needs a niche of 5.1 by 75 by 49 to 50cm with a worktop at least 16mm thick, so this is a hob to plan a kitchen around rather than retrofit into a 60cm gap. Connected load is 7.4kW and an installer can cap it for a 16A, 13A or 10A supply.
