Description
Bosch Series 6 Built-In 70cm Induction Hob with Integrated Downdraft Ventilation
A 70cm Bosch induction hob with downdraft extraction built in, giving four equally powerful zones and a wider cooking surface without needing a wider cabinet.
The Series 6 PVQ731H26E is the middle size in Bosch's vented induction range: 71cm of black ceramic glass across the worktop, four cooking zones and an extraction intake between them. Because the required niche is only 56cm wide, it fits a standard 60cm base cabinet while still giving you more surface than a 60cm hob.
All four zones are identical, each 190/210mm at 2.5kW and boosting to 3.7kW, and adjoining pairs can be joined as CombiZones. Ducted extraction covers 154 to 500 cubic metres an hour on normal settings, rising to 622 on the intensive one, and starts on its own as soon as a zone is used.
Ideal For
The 71cm surface sits above a 56cm niche, so you gain cooking width without rebuilding cabinetry. The appliance is 22.3cm deep below the glass and suits a 60cm base unit.
Extraction happens at the pan rather than overhead, and the lowest normal ducted setting is 42dB, so the kitchen stays part of the room rather than dominating it.
Every zone is the same: 2.5kW, boosting to 3.7kW. No pan ends up on the weak ring, and any two neighbouring zones can be combined for larger cookware.
Key Features
Ducted, the fan covers 154 to 500 cubic metres an hour across normal settings with 622 on intensive, controlled through nine speeds and two intensive levels.
Each zone is 190/210mm and rated 2.5kW, boosting to 3.7kW, so pan placement is never a compromise between size and available power.
Either pair of zones can be joined into one larger heating area, which suits roasting tins, griddles and fish kettles that overhang a single zone.
On its lowest normal ducted setting the extractor measures 42dB to EN 60704-3, low enough to leave running while people are talking in the same room.
Pan temperature is regulated automatically by an integrated sensor, so frying holds a chosen level instead of drifting upward while your attention is elsewhere.
A 200ml collector takes condensate and everyday spills, with a 700ml safety collector beneath. Both are removable and fully dishwasher safe.
More hob without more cabinet
The interesting number here is not the 71cm surface but the 56cm niche beneath it. The glass overhangs the cut-out, so a kitchen built around standard 60cm units gains roughly ten centimetres of usable cooking width without any cabinetry work. Four identical 190/210mm zones spread across that width with genuine room between pan handles, and two CombiZones let neighbouring pairs be joined for anything longer than a single zone can heat properly.
Extraction figures worth knowing
Ducted to the outside, the fan runs from 154 to 500 cubic metres an hour on normal settings and 622 on intensive, at 42 to 69dB. Recirculating through Clean Air Plus filters those become 117 to 487 and 595, at 41 to 68dB. Nine fan speeds plus two intensive settings give finer control than most hoods offer, and AutoOn starts the fan when a zone is used. After cooking it keeps running quietly to clear residual odours, then shuts off by itself.
Living with a downdraft installation
The hob weighs 25.1kg and drops 22.3cm below the worktop, which needs to be at least 16mm thick and structurally able to carry it. The cupboard underneath has to stay accessible from below for the lower liquid safety collector, so a bank of fixed drawers will not work. Bosch supplies a slider and a Clean Air Plus odour filter for unducted recirculation; ducted setups need separate kits. The odour filters are non-regenerative and rated for 360 hours of cooking.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard 60cm cabinets | 56cm required niche | A 71cm cooking surface fits over a standard base unit with no cabinetry alterations |
| Island with no hood | Integrated downdraft extraction | Steam is captured at the pan, so nothing has to be hung from the ceiling above |
| Quiet background running | 42dB lowest ducted setting | Extraction can stay on at low speed without competing with conversation in the room |
| Large roasting tins | Two CombiZones | Neighbouring zones combine into one area so oversized cookware heats across its full base |
| Frying and searing | 622 m³/h intensive setting | A short intensive burst pulls smoke away from a hot pan before it spreads |
| No external wall | Recirculation mode | Clean Air Plus filters and a slider are included so the hob runs without an outside duct |

The Verdict
Strengths
- 71cm cooking surface over a 56cm niche
- Four identical 2.5kW zones boosting to 3.7kW
- Two CombiZones for oversized cookware
- Extraction to 500 m³/h ducted, 622 m³/h intensive
- Nine fan speeds plus two intensive settings
- PerfectFry Plus sensor and 17 power levels
- Home Connect over Wi-Fi with updateable software
Considerations
- Clean Air Plus odour filters used in recirculation are non-regenerative, rated for 360 hours of cooking before they need replacing.
- The base cabinet must stay accessible from underneath for the liquid safety collector, which normally means losing drawer space.
- Only the unducted recirculation accessories are supplied; ducted extraction and other layouts require separate Bosch ducting kits.
