Description
Bosch Series 6 Built-In 60cm FlexInduction Hob with Home Connect
A 60cm Bosch induction hob whose two left zones merge into one 40cm FlexInduction area, so oval dishes and oversized pans finally have somewhere to sit.
The Series 6 PIX631HC1E is a four-zone induction hob for a standard 60cm run, cut into a 56cm niche and finished without a frame. It suits cooks who want precise control on a worktop that stays visually quiet: black ceramic glass, a bevelled front edge and a single imprinted touch bar rather than a crowded panel.
FlexInduction is the reason to choose it. The two left zones behave as one 40cm area, joining or separating automatically according to the shape and size of the cookware you put down. Move a pan and the settings follow it. Seventeen power levels cover everything from a bare simmer up to PowerBoost, which lifts output to 3.7kW on the larger zones.
Ideal For
Fish kettles, roasting trays and oval casseroles rarely match a round zone. The 40cm FlexInduction area on the left takes them whole, heating the full base rather than a circle in the middle.
The niche is 56cm wide and 49 to 50cm deep, the size most Irish base units are already built to. At 13.5kg it drops into an existing cut-out without structural work.
Home Connect over Wi-Fi lets you check the hob is off from elsewhere in the house, and Hob Hood Control will start a compatible Wi-Fi hood as soon as you begin cooking.
Key Features
The two left zones combine into one long area. Cooking zones join or separate automatically based on the shape and size of the cookware placed on them.
Nine main levels and eight intermediate steps, so the gap between a holding simmer and a proper boil can be closed one notch at a time.
Each of the four zones can be boosted: 3.7kW on the front right and both left zones, 2.2kW on the rear right. Water reaches temperature noticeably sooner.
An integrated sensor regulates pan temperature automatically, holding a frying level rather than a power level, so steaks and pancakes stop short of scorching.
Power is set on one imprinted bar rather than by tapping through menus, and a configurable Favourite button puts a routine setting a single press away.
Switch the hob off by accident and turning it back on within four seconds restores every previous setting. QuickStart also selects the zone your pan is already sitting on.
How the flexible zone works
The left-hand pair of zones is a single 40cm strip rather than two fixed circles. Put a large flex pan or a roasting tray across both and the hob treats it as one heating area; put two small saucepans down instead and it separates them again. You do not choose a mode. The zones join and separate on their own, based on what is standing on the glass, and if you slide a pan sideways the settings travel with it.
Control that stays out of the way
Bosch has put every power setting on one imprinted DirectSelect bar across the front of the glass. Choose a zone, slide to a level, and the 17-stage scale gives you eight half-steps between the nine main settings for the sort of low, steady heat that custards and reductions need. A Favourite button, configurable through a connected Home Connect account, recalls a setting you use constantly. The sound volume is adjustable too, which matters more than it sounds in an open-plan room.
Fitting it and running it safely
The hob sits in a 5.1cm deep cut-out measuring 56cm by 49 to 50cm, with a minimum worktop thickness of 16mm. Total connected load is 7.4kW, and power management lets an installer cap it for a 16A, 13A or 10A supply where the circuit will not carry the full figure. Safety is handled by two-stage residual heat indicators on each zone, a control panel lock, a pause function, a main on/off switch and an automatic safety cut-out.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Oval roasting trays | 40cm FlexInduction zone | Two left zones act as one area, so the whole base of a long dish is heated evenly |
| Fast weeknight pasta | PowerBoost on all zones | Up to 3.7kW on the larger zones brings a full pan of water to the boil sooner |
| Frying without watching | PerfectFry Plus sensor | Pan temperature is regulated automatically, so oil holds its level instead of climbing towards smoke |
| Delicate sauces | 17-stage power control | Eight intermediate steps sit between the nine main levels for low heat that stays where you set it |
| Open-plan kitchen noise | Adjustable sound volume | Beeps and confirmation tones can be set quieter, which helps when the hob sits in a living space |
| Limited circuit capacity | 16A, 13A or 10A power management | The 7.4kW load can be capped by the installer to suit the circuit your kitchen already has |

The Verdict
Strengths
- 40cm FlexInduction zone takes oval and oversized cookware
- 17 power levels with eight intermediate steps
- PowerBoost available on all four cooking zones
- PerfectFry Plus sensor regulates pan temperature automatically
- Home Connect with Hob Hood Control and Smart Hood Automatic
- Frameless black ceramic glass in a standard 56cm niche
- ReStart restores every setting within four seconds
Considerations
- This is a built-in hob: it needs a 56cm niche, a worktop at least 16mm thick and installation by a qualified electrician.
- There is no integrated extraction, so a separate cooker hood is required; Hob Hood Control needs a compatible Wi-Fi hood.
- The Favourite button, keep warm and Dish assistant functions require a connected Home Connect account before they can be used.
What's in the Box
