Description
Bosch Series 6 60cm 4 Burner Gas Hob with FlameSelect
A 60cm gas hob in black enamel with continuous cast iron supports and FlameSelect, which sets each burner to one of nine defined flame levels.
The Series 6 PCP6A6I90 is a four-burner gas hob finished in black enamel rather than glass or steel. It measures 58.2 cm across and drops into a standard 56 cm cut-out, so it suits a straightforward replacement in an existing 60cm run of worktop. Full-metal dials sit at the front and lift off when it is time to clean.
Two Series 6 features do the work. FlameSelect divides each burner's range into nine precisely defined levels, so heat is set by number rather than by eye. And the cast iron pan supports run continuously across the surface, which means a heavy pot can be slid from the 3 kW high-speed burner to the 1 kW economy burner without lifting it.
Ideal For
A 56 cm cut-out and a 20 mm minimum worktop thickness are the usual figures for a 60cm hob, so this can go where an older four-burner model came out.
Continuous cast iron supports mean a full casserole never has to be lifted between burners. The supports sit on rubber feet and are dishwasher-suitable when they need more than a wipe.
Nine defined FlameSelect levels on every burner suit anyone who cooks by recipe and wants the same low heat available again next time without hunting for it.
Key Features
Each of the four burners can be set to one of nine precisely defined flame levels, which makes heat a repeatable setting rather than a judgement call.
One continuous run of cast iron supports covers the burners, so pans slide across rather than being lifted. Rubber feet keep them from moving on the enamel.
The rear-right burner carries the highest output, which is the one to use for boiling a full pan of water or heating a pan quickly before searing.
An enamel finish in black, frameless at the edges, giving a surface that is easy to wipe once the cast iron supports have been lifted off.
The full-metal control dials come off the fascia for cleaning, which is where cooking grease usually collects and where a cloth normally cannot reach.
Outputs of 3 kW, two at 1.75 kW and 1 kW make up a total gas connection rating of 7.5 kW, each burner with flame failure protection.
Why continuous supports matter
It sounds like a small thing until you are moving a full pan of potatoes across the hob. On this model the cast iron supports form one continuous surface over all four burners, so a heavy pot slides from the high-speed burner to the economy burner instead of being lifted, tipped and set back down. It is safer with hot liquid, and it means an oversized pan or a griddle has something to rest on rather than balancing across two separate frames.
Nine flame levels in practice
Gas responds instantly, which is its great advantage, but a dial that sweeps between low and high gives no way to record what worked. FlameSelect steps each burner through nine defined levels instead. Set a curry to level two and it will be the same level two next month. The 1 kW economy burner benefits most: its lowest settings are gentle enough for milk, chocolate or a sauce you do not want to catch on the bottom of the pan.
Fitting, connecting and cleaning up
The hob is 58.2 cm wide, 52 cm deep and 5.15 cm high, and needs a cut-out of 4.5 x 56 x 48-49 cm in a worktop at least 20 mm thick. At 10.9 kg it is manageable, but there is no plug on the 1 m cord, so the 220-240 V supply is wired into a 3 A fused connection by an electrician. Lift the continuous supports off for the dishwasher, pull the metal dials off the fascia, and wipe the enamel underneath.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy casseroles | Continuous cast iron supports | A full pot slides from burner to burner without being lifted off the surface at all. |
| Precise low heat | FlameSelect nine levels | The economy burner holds a defined low setting for milk, chocolate or a sauce that catches easily. |
| Fast boiling | 3 kW high-speed burner | The rear-right burner has the highest output for getting a large pan up to temperature. |
| Replacing an old hob | Standard 56 cm cut-out | Takes a 4.5 x 56 x 48-49 cm cut-out in a worktop at least 20 mm thick. |
| Cleaning up | Removable full-metal dials | The dials pull off the fascia and the cast iron supports go into the dishwasher. |
| Homes with children | Flame failure devices | Each of the four burners cuts its own gas supply if the flame goes out. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- FlameSelect with nine defined levels per burner
- Continuous cast iron supports, dishwasher-suitable
- Four burners rated 7.5 kW in total
- 3 kW high-speed burner at the rear right
- Removable full-metal control dials for easier cleaning
- Black enamel surface with a frameless edge
- Flame failure safety device on every burner
Considerations
- The four burners top out at 3 kW; there is no dedicated wok burner in this 60cm layout.
- No plug is fitted, so the 220-240 V supply must be wired into a 3 A fused connection by an electrician.
- This is a built-in hob. It needs a 4.5 x 56 x 48-49 cm cut-out in a worktop at least 20 mm thick.
