Description
Bosch Series 4 Built-In Electric Double Oven with 3D Hotair
A 71 litre main oven with 3D Hotair and a 34 litre second cavity above it, giving two independent ovens inside a single 60 cm housing.
Two cavities, one column. The Series 4 MBA533BS3B pairs a 71 litre main oven with a 34 litre oven and grill above it, so a roast and a tray of potatoes no longer take turns. It fits a standard tall housing unit, is finished in stainless steel, and uses retractable pop-out dials that sit flush when nobody is cooking.
3D Hotair is what earns the main oven its space. Heat is circulated so three shelf levels can be used at once, across five shelf positions and a range from 50°C to 275°C. Five main oven functions cover 3D Hotair, conventional top and bottom heat, Hotair grilling, a full-width variable grill and Hotair gentle, with fast preheat for weeknights.
Ideal For
3D Hotair lets three shelves work at once in the 71 litre main oven, with five shelf positions and three combination grids supplied to fill them properly.
Run the roast in the main cavity and use the 34 litre top oven for sides or the grill, rather than juggling everything through one door.
A red LED display with clock timer and automatic start handles the timing, and fast preheat gets the main oven up to temperature when the evening is short.
Key Features
A large main cavity with five shelf positions and a 50°C to 275°C range, rated A for energy at 0.81 kWh per fan-forced cycle.
The second cavity offers conventional top and bottom heat plus large-area and small-area grilling, so it works as an oven or a grill as needed.
Circulated heat allows three shelves to be used at the same time in the main oven, which is what makes a big bake or a full tray dinner practical.
The main oven rear wall carries an EcoClean Direct coating, and both cavities have full glass inner doors that wipe down without dismantling much.
Steel-trimmed dials push in flush when not in use, which keeps the front clean-looking and stops them catching in a narrow galley kitchen.
Three combination grids and a universal pan come with the oven, so both cavities can be loaded properly from the first day of use.
Two cavities in one housing
A double oven puts 71 litres and 34 litres into the same 60 cm tall unit that a single oven and a storage drawer might otherwise occupy. The main oven runs five functions, from 3D Hotair to a full-width variable grill; the top runs three, covering conventional heat and two grill sizes. Both share a 50°C to 275°C range. The practical result is that a main course and its accompaniments can cook at different temperatures at the same time.
How 3D Hotair changes baking
Conventional top and bottom heat suits one shelf at a time. 3D Hotair circulates heat so three levels can be used together, which matters when you are baking in quantity or feeding a full table. Five shelf positions in the main oven give the flexibility to arrange trays properly, and three combination grids plus a universal pan are supplied. Fast preheat brings the main cavity up to temperature without a long wait first.
Installation, energy and cleaning
This oven takes a fixed 5.9 kW connection, so it is wired in by a qualified electrician rather than plugged into a socket, and the niche it needs measures 875 to 888 mm high, 560 to 568 mm wide and 550 mm deep. The oven itself is 88.8 x 59.4 x 55.0 cm and weighs 49.2 kg. The main cavity is rated A at 0.81 kWh per fan-forced cycle, the top cavity B. Cleaning is an EcoClean Direct coating on the main oven rear wall plus full glass inner doors.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Cooking a full meal | 71 L and 34 L cavities | Two ovens run at different temperatures at once, so the main course and the sides are both ready. |
| Batch baking | 3D Hotair on three levels | Three shelves can be used together in the main oven, cutting a long bake into fewer rounds. |
| Quick weeknight dinners | Fast preheat | The main oven reaches temperature sooner, so food goes in without a long wait after work. |
| Grilling and browning | Full-width variable grill | The main oven grills across its whole width, while the top cavity adds large and small grill areas. |
| Wiping down after roasting | EcoClean Direct rear wall | The main oven rear wall is coated and both doors have full glass inners, so cleaning stays straightforward. |
| Narrow galley kitchen | Retractable pop-out dials | The controls sit flush with the fascia when they are not in use, so nothing juts into the walkway. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- 71 litre main oven plus a 34 litre top oven
- 3D Hotair allows baking on three shelf levels
- Main cavity rated A at 0.81 kWh per cycle
- Five main oven functions and three top oven functions
- EcoClean Direct coating on the main oven rear wall
- Retractable pop-out dials with steel trim
- Three combination grids and a universal pan supplied
Considerations
- It takes a fixed 5.9 kW connection with no plug supplied, so a qualified electrician and a suitable circuit are needed.
- Cleaning is an EcoClean Direct coating on the main oven rear wall only; there is no pyrolytic self-cleaning programme on this model.
- The top cavity runs three functions and is rated B, so it is a support oven and grill rather than a second full oven.
