Description
Bosch Series 4 80cm Built-In Integrated Design Cooker Hood with Clear Glass Canopy
An 80 cm built-in design hood with a clear glass canopy in matt black, extracting up to 582 m³/h while its T-shaped body leaves 20 kg of shelf space.
The DBB85CC60B is a Series 4 integrated design hood, fitted flush into an 80 cm wall cupboard so that only a clear glass canopy and a carbon black matt front are on show. It is the answer for kitchens that want the cupboard line kept intact but are not willing to give up either extraction or the look of the wall above the hob.
The body is T-shaped, which is more useful than it sounds: the narrower centre section leaves usable storage either side, up to 10 kg on each and 20 kg in total. Extraction reaches 582 m³/h ducted across three power levels, and two 1.5 W LEDs light the hob at 290 lux, the brightest lighting in this group of hoods.
Ideal For
Flush-mounted into an 80 cm wall cupboard, the hood keeps the cabinetry line unbroken. The clear glass canopy and matt black front read as design rather than appliance.
The T-shaped body leaves space on both sides inside the cupboard, taking up to 10 kg per side, so the unit above the hob is not written off entirely.
Minimum clearance is 430 mm above an electric hob, the lowest here, which helps in kitchens where the wall cupboards sit closer to the worktop.
Key Features
Three power levels take ducted extraction to 582 m³/h, with 521 m³/h available in recirculating mode when the Long-life Clean Air kit is fitted.
The T-shaped design leaves shelf space on either side of the hood inside the cupboard, rated to hold up to 10 kg per side.
Two 1.5 W LEDs deliver 290 lux at 3,500 K, a genuinely bright neutral light across the hob rather than a token glow under a cupboard.
A clear glass canopy under a carbon black matt front gives the hood a deliberate look where most built-in models hide behind a plain metal strip.
Two washable stainless steel filters earn a class B grease filtering rating, so more grease is caught before it can reach the ducting or the motor.
The appliance measures 34 by 79.8 by 29.8 cm and needs a niche of 340 by 760 mm, with a minimum depth of 300 mm.
Built in, but not hidden away
Most built-in hoods aim to vanish. This one takes a different line: the body disappears into the wall cupboard, but a clear glass canopy and a carbon black matt front are left visible above the hob. The effect is closer to a design detail than an appliance, and it works particularly well in kitchens with dark or handleless cabinetry. Enclosed spacers handle installation in wall cupboards up to 360 mm deep, and chimney extensions are available as accessories if you want to change the look above.
Storage you would normally lose
Fitting a hood into a wall unit usually means losing that cupboard. The T-shaped design here narrows the body through the middle, leaving useful space on both sides that is rated to carry 10 kg per side, 20 kg in total. In a kitchen short on storage that is a real gain: oils, tins or the everyday jars can stay directly above the hob instead of moving to a cupboard across the room.
Airflow, filtering and installation
Ducted through the 150 mm outlet, extraction runs to 582 m³/h at 65 dB(A) on the top of three mechanical settings. Recirculating with the DWZ1IB1I6 Long-life Clean Air kit, an optional accessory, it still manages 521 m³/h, a small drop by the standards of convertible hoods. Two washable stainless steel filters are dishwasher-safe and rated class B for grease filtering, and the hood is class B for energy at 70.5 kWh a year. Bosch requires 430 mm of clearance above an electric hob, or 650 mm above gas.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Unbroken cupboard runs | Flush built-in fitting | The hood sits inside an 80 cm wall unit, so the cabinetry line above the hob stays intact. |
| Short on storage | T-shaped body design | Space either side of the hood holds up to 10 kg per side, keeping the cupboard usable. |
| Wide 80 cm hobs | 79.8 cm appliance width | Covers the full width of a large hob, so the outer pans are drawn on as well. |
| Dark kitchen schemes | Clear glass, matt black | The glass canopy and carbon black front suit dark cabinetry instead of interrupting it with steel. |
| Detailed hob work | 290 lux LED lighting | Bright neutral light at 3,500 K across the cooking surface for judging colour and doneness. |
| No duct route | Long-life Clean Air kit | Recirculating operation holds up well at 521 m³/h, close to the ducted figure. |
