Description
Bosch Series 4 75cm 5 Burner Gas Hob with Central Wok Burner
A 75cm stainless steel gas hob whose 3.3 kW wok burner sits front and centre, putting the biggest flame where the biggest pan is easiest to reach.
The Series 4 PGQ7B5K90 spreads five gas burners across 75 cm of frameless stainless steel. What marks it out from the rest of the range is the layout: the 3.3 kW wok burner takes the centre-front position, directly in front of the cook, rather than being pushed out to one side. Continuous cast iron supports link the burners across the whole surface.
A wok is heavy when it is full, and a centre-front burner means less reaching and less awkward lifting over other pans. Around it sit a 3 kW high-speed burner, two 1.75 kW standard burners and a 1 kW economy burner, for a total rating of 10.8 kW. Each one has its own flame failure safety device.
Ideal For
The 3.3 kW burner sits centre front, so a full wok goes straight down in front of you rather than across the hob. Continuous supports hold a round-based pan steady.
Five burners across 75 cm mean a stock, a sauce, potatoes and a pan of greens can all have their own flame, with room for the handles.
No touch panel and no menus. Push and turn a front-mounted dial and the burner lights, which is what many gas cooks are looking for in the first place.
Key Features
The 3.3 kW wok burner takes the position closest to the cook, which makes lifting a heavy, full pan on and off noticeably easier.
Burner outputs run from 1 kW to 3.3 kW, with a 3 kW high-speed burner in the rear right, adding up to a 10.8 kW total connection rating.
Cast iron pan supports run in one continuous line across the hob, so pans slide between burners. They sit on rubber feet and are dishwasher-suitable.
Each of the five burners has a flame failure safety device, cutting the gas supply if the flame is extinguished by a draught or a boil-over.
Lighting a burner takes one hand: push the dial in and turn. The sword-shaped dials are front-mounted, so you are never reaching over a live flame.
Stainless steel, frameless, 75 cm wide and 52 cm deep, with a 5.42 cm appliance height that drops into a prepared worktop cut-out.
Why the layout matters
Most five-burner hobs park the big burner at one end, which works until you are carrying a full wok or a pan of boiling pasta water across the other four. The PGQ7B5K90 puts its 3.3 kW wok burner at the centre front instead. You lift heavy pans the shortest distance, you can see into them without leaning, and the two 1.75 kW standard burners and the 1 kW economy burner sit off to the sides where they are out of the way.
Installation and the worktop
The hob measures 5.42 cm high, 75 cm wide and 52 cm deep and needs a worktop at least 20 mm thick. It weighs 9 kg, so it is not a difficult lift, but the connection work is not a DIY job: the electrical supply is 220-240 V on a 3 A fuse with no plug fitted and a 1 m cord. Bosch publishes the cut-out as 4.5 x 56 x 48-49 cm, which sits oddly with the 75 cm width, so check the installation manual first.
Cleaning and everyday handling
Gas hobs live or die on how easily they clean, and this one is straightforward. The cast iron supports lift off in a continuous piece and are dishwasher-suitable, leaving a flat stainless steel surface with no frame around the edge to trap spills. Rubber feet stop the supports scratching the steel as you replace them. The dials are plastic and fixed rather than removable, so they are wiped in place, and this Series 4 model does not offer FlameSelect stepped flame levels: you set the flame by eye.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Wok cooking | 3.3 kW centre-front burner | The largest flame sits closest to you, so a heavy full wok travels the shortest distance. |
| Sunday dinner | Five gas burners | Roast gravy, potatoes, two vegetables and a sauce can each hold their own flame across 75 cm. |
| Fast boiling | 3 kW high-speed burner | The rear-right burner brings a large pan of water up to temperature quickly when time is short. |
| Slow sauces | 1 kW economy burner | A small, low flame that holds a gentle simmer without scorching the bottom of the pan. |
| Easy cleaning | Dishwasher-suitable cast iron | The continuous supports lift off and go in the dishwasher, leaving a flat frameless surface to wipe. |
| Bottled gas | LPG nozzle set included | Pre-set for natural gas, with the LPG conversion nozzles supplied for homes not on the mains. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- 3.3 kW wok burner in the centre-front position
- Five burners rated at 10.8 kW in total
- Continuous cast iron supports, dishwasher-suitable
- Flame failure safety device on all five burners
- Frameless stainless steel, 75 cm wide

Considerations
- A built-in hob with no plug fitted: the 220-240 V supply must be connected by a qualified electrician.
- This Series 4 model has no FlameSelect stepped flame control, and its plastic dials cannot be removed for cleaning.
- Bosch lists the required cut-out as 56 cm wide for a 75 cm hob; confirm against the installation manual before cutting the worktop.
