Description
Bosch Series 4 75cm 5 Burner Gas Hob with Wok Burner
Five gas burners across 75cm of stainless steel, including a 3.3 kW wok burner on the left, with flame failure protection on every burner.
The Series 4 PGM7B5K90 is a 75cm built-in gas hob in stainless steel, sized for kitchens where more than two pans are usually on the go. Five burners sit under continuous cast iron supports, so pots slide between them rather than being lifted. Front-mounted sword dials keep the controls within easy reach of the cook.
The left-hand burner is the one that sets this hob apart: a 3.3 kW wok burner that puts a wide, fierce flame under a round-based pan for stir-frying, or under a stockpot that needs to reach a rolling boil quickly. The other four run from a 1 kW economy burner to a 3 kW high-speed burner, totalling 10.8 kW.
Ideal For
The 3.3 kW burner on the left is built for high, fast heat. Cast iron supports run continuously across the surface, so a heavy wok or stockpot sits steadily where you place it.
At 75 cm wide with five burners, there is room to run a sauce, a pan of potatoes and a frying pan at once without crowding handles together.
Supplied pre-set for natural gas at 20 mbar, with an LPG nozzle set in the box for homes on bottled gas. Every burner carries a flame failure safety device.
Key Features
The left-hand position takes the largest burner, rated at 3.3 kW, for stir-frying in a round-based wok or bringing a large pan of water up to the boil.
Five burners spanning 1 kW economy, two at 1.75 kW, a 3 kW high-speed burner and the 3.3 kW wok, giving a total gas connection rating of 10.8 kW.
One continuous run of cast iron pan supports links the burners, so pans can be slid rather than lifted. The supports have rubber feet and are dishwasher-suitable.
Every burner has a flame failure safety device, which shuts the gas off if the flame goes out, whether from a draught or a pan boiling over.
Push and turn a single dial to light a burner: there is no separate ignition button to hold. The sword-shaped dials are front-mounted and ergonomically shaped.
A frameless stainless steel surface measuring 75 cm across, with no raised trim around the edge to collect spills where the hob meets the worktop.
What the wok burner changes
Most four-burner hobs top out well below 3.3 kW, which is why stir-fries at home tend to steam rather than sear. The wok burner on the left of the PGM7B5K90 spreads a wider, hotter flame up the sides of a round-based pan, so food hitting the metal cooks instead of sitting in its own liquid. The same burner earns its keep in less glamorous ways: a full stockpot or a preserving pan reaches temperature far sooner.
Fitting it into the worktop
This is a built-in hob. The appliance measures 5.42 cm high, 75 cm wide and 52 cm deep, and the worktop needs to be at least 20 mm thick. Electrically it asks for 220-240 V on a 3 A fuse, with no plug fitted and a 1 m cord, so the connection is made by an electrician. Bosch publishes the cut-out as 4.5 x 56 x 48-49 cm, which reads oddly against a 75 cm appliance, so have your installer confirm it against the installation manual before cutting.
Living with it day to day
Gas is immediate, and the PGM7B5K90 keeps that simple. Push and turn a dial and the burner lights; there is nothing to hold and no separate spark button. If a flame does go out, the safety device on that burner cuts the gas. Cleaning is where the continuous supports matter: lift the cast iron off and the stainless steel underneath is one open surface, and the supports themselves are dishwasher-suitable. This Series 4 model does not have FlameSelect stepped flame levels, and the dials are not removable.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Stir-frying at home | 3.3 kW wok burner | A wide, fierce flame up the sides of a round-based pan, so food sears rather than steams. |
| Cooking for a crowd | Five gas burners | Sauce, potatoes, vegetables and a frying pan can all run at once across 75 cm of worktop. |
| Heavy pans | Continuous cast iron supports | Pots slide from burner to burner instead of being lifted, and the supports sit on rubber feet. |
| Gentle simmering | 1 kW economy burner | The smallest burner holds a low flame for melting chocolate, warming milk or a long, slow sauce. |
| Homes on LPG | LPG nozzle set included | Supplied pre-set for natural gas, with the conversion nozzles for bottled gas already in the box. |
| Households with children | Flame failure devices | If a flame is blown out or drowned by a boil-over, the gas to that burner shuts off. |
